UMI Students’ Body elects New Leaders for 2024-2025 Academic Year
The UMI student body ushered in a fresh chapter of leadership with the election of new representatives for the 2024-2025 academic year. At the forefront is Guild President Rubanga Kene Ronnie, who has vowed to work closely with his elected cabinet to ensure quality service delivery for the UMI student community. His administration’s focus is on prioritizing student needs, strengthening communication with management, and enhancing the student experience at UMI.
Dr. Kasozi.S.Mulindwa, UMI’s Director of Programs and Student Affairs, welcomed the new guild leadership and set forth key expectations for the administration. He encouraged the cabinet to add value to the UMI experience, emphasizing the importance of meeting and exceeding the expectations of the students, referred to as “participants.” Addressing the newly elected leaders, he said, “Our participants invest significant time and resources into their education here, and it is our responsibility to ensure they see a return on that investment. We must make UMI a place where students feel they are receiving true value for their money.” The DPSA further urged the new guild cabinet to honour a “social contract” with students and management, emphasizing the importance of building social capital.
As part of their agenda, the new guild administration plans to introduce initiatives that will improve service delivery, support student welfare, and foster a vibrant campus culture. Rubanga Kene’s team is particularly focused on identifying ways to enhance academic and personal support, ensuring students have access to resources that meet their needs. They are also committed to maintaining open channels of communication with the administration, working together to ensure that student feedback is heard and acted upon.
The 2024-2025 academic year presents a unique opportunity for collaboration between the student body and UMI management. With Rubanga Kene’s dedication to representing the interests of his peers and Dr. Kasozi’s commitment to providing a valuable educational experience, UMI is poised to make meaningful strides in creating an environment that supports student success. This unified approach will not only improve the student experience but also reinforce UMI’s reputation as a top-tier institution where students feel that their educational investment is well spent.
As the new leadership steps into their roles, there is a renewed sense of purpose at UMI. The combined efforts of the guild and administration promise an enriching academic year, one where every student can thrive both academically and personally, knowing they are receiving true value for their commitment to UMI.
