The IT Department hosted a Stakeholder Review Workshop

The Department of Information Technology of Uganda Management Institute recently convened a stakeholder review workshop to assess and refine its Postgraduate diploma programs. The event focused on reviewing the existing Postgraduate Diploma programs in Information Technology and Security Management, while also gathering input on two proposed courses: Postgraduate Diploma in Data Science and Analytics and Postgraduate Diploma in Cyber Security Management.
The Director of Programmes and Students’ Affairs underscored the significance of stakeholder participation in course development, highlighting the National Council for Higher Education’s (NCHE) requirement for such engagement. This involvement ensures that the programs align with industry needs and equip graduates with relevant skills. “As we review these courses and propose others, your input is important to reach our mission which is to excel in developing practical and sustainable administration, leadership and management capacity, and also to fulfil our mandate so that the demand of the competitive market is met”
The Dean of the School of Distance Learning and Information Technology emphasized the importance of incorporating research elements and artificial intelligence (AI) into the curriculum review process. This forward-thinking approach enables the department to stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies.
The workshop aimed to gather feedback from stakeholders to ensure that the programs meet the demands of the competitive market. By doing so, the department seeks to develop practical and sustainable administration, leadership, and management capacity. “As we are reviewing and developing new courses, your input is very much required to help us reach our mission so that our graduates can get the competencies to perform in the labour market” added the Director of Programmes and Students’ Affairs.
The department recognizes the high demand for IT skills and the potential for automation, digitalization, and AI in the industry. Stakeholder input is crucial in shaping the programs to equip graduates with the necessary competencies to perform in the labour market. By engaging stakeholders and refining its programs, the Department of Information Technology demonstrates its commitment to delivering high-quality education that meets the needs of the industry and enhances graduate employability.
