The Uganda Management Institute (UMI), through its Department of Projects and Consultancy, partnered with the Microfinance Support Centre (MSC) to launch a five-day training workshop from 7^th/sept 2026 to 11^th/sept/2026 on leadership and supervisory skills for MSC managers. The session was moderated by Mr. Isaac Kalyango, who invited the head of department to deliver her opening remarks.

Dr. Rose Kwatampora, Head of the Department of Projects and Consultancy, welcomed the trainees and expressed gratitude to MSC for choosing UMI as their training partner. She commended the course manager, Prof. Turyasingura, and the facilitation team for organizing the comprehensive five-day program designed to enhance modern leadership capacity.

Representing the Microfinance Support Centre, Ms. Claire Louise Atuhairwe, Head of Human Resources, provided a brief history of the centre. She highlighted that MSC was established in 2001 under the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development with a mandate to provide microcredit and financial services to local communities. Ms. Atuhairwe noted that a cohort of 20 managers is participating in phased sessions to gain practical competencies to drive organizational impact. She added that MSC looks forward to further institutional collaborations with UMI in areas such as general management, strategic planning, communication, and marketing.

Delivering remarks on behalf of the Director General, Assoc. Prof. Kasozi Mulindwa welcomed the participants and commended Microfinance Support Centre for the strategic partnership. He emphasized UMI’s long-standing mandate in postgraduate education and public administration, noting that the institute’s alumni consistently excel in key leadership positions.

Prof. Mulindwa who officially declared the five-day leadership and supervisory skills training open, urged participants to engage actively with the elite facilitation team and invest in continuous personal development. He encouraged the trainees to adhere to institutional guidelines, highlighting that a minimum of 100% class attendance is expected for full certification. He further noted that a comprehensive end-of-course evaluation will be conducted to assess participant feedback and ensure continuous program refinement.
