COSLU & UMI launch Capacity Building Training for Oil & Gas Sector Professionals

The China Oilfield Services Limited (COSLU) in collaboration with UMI and the Petroleum Authority of Uganda (PAU) launched a 10-day (July 7–18) capacity building training program for professionals in the oil and gas sector. The training aimed at enhancing the skills and knowledge of participants in areas such as economics of oil and gas, stakeholder management, and oil and gas supply chain management. Furthermore, the training program is designed to equip participants with comprehensive knowledge and techniques relevant to the Ugandan oil and gas sector. The program demonstrates the commitment of COSLU, UMI, and PAU to promoting sustainable development and professionalism in the sector. Together, these insights set the tone for a training program focused not just on knowledge transfer but on empowering Uganda’s workforce to drive positive change within their organizations and the broader industry.

 

The training program was officially launched at a ceremony attended by representatives from COSLU, UMI, PAU and the Chinese Embassy. In his remarks, the General Manager of COSLU, Mr. Xiu Yu, highlighted the company’s commitment to investing in human capital and improving local skills in the oil and gas sector.

 

The Director General of UMI, Prof. James L. Nkata, welcomed the guests and COSLU delegation, emphasizing the importance of capacity building in the oil and gas sector. He noted that UMI is proud to be the partner of choice in this training and promised that the team would give their best.

 

The Counsellor from the Chinese Embassy highlighted the significance of the training program in strengthening China-Uganda relations and promoting mutual respect and solidarity between the two countries. He encouraged participants to take advantage of the knowledge and skills being imparted, emphasizing that it is essential for achieving sustainable development in the oil and gas sector.

 

The training program proved to be a testament to the strong partnership between COSLU, UMI, and PAU. The Corporate Affairs Manager of PAU, Gloria Sebikari, commended COSL for their proactive stance in investing in human capital and encouraged participants to take advantage of the experienced speakers and peer influence.
