UMI Hosts Global Experts for International Re-Accreditation of the Public Administration courses
On 23rd February 2026, the Uganda Management Institute (UMI) welcomed a delegation of eminent international scholars for the re-accreditation of its Public Administration programs. The Site Visit Team (SVT) represents the International Commission on the Accreditation of Public Administration (ICAPA), a global body that ensures educational programs meet the highest international benchmarks. UMI is reinforcing its status as a leader in public sector training by hosting the ICAPA – SVT for a comprehensive program evaluation that involves an on-site inspection, quality control evaluation, fact finding, stakeholder engagements, review of innovative developments, facility Inspection of libraries, lecture halls, and digital infrastructure to ensure they meet international standards. This global re-accreditation process is a validation of UMI’s commitment to producing world-class public managers.
Led by the distinguished Professor De Vries Michiel Stijn, a Public Administration expert affiliated to several Universities that include Radboud University, Netherlands. The eminent team is comprised of Professor Iwona Sobis from the University of Gothenburg, Sweden and Professor Ukertor Gabriel Motiof University of Abuja, Nigeria.
The rigorous evaluation involves a deep dive into UMI’s inner workings; from curriculum relevance and faculty competency to digital infrastructure. Through stakeholder interviews with alumni, lecturers, and employers, the team will verify if UMI’s training continues to align with the UN-endorsed Standards of Excellence. This accreditation cements UMI’s mission to transform from a local provider into a world-class management development institute, ensuring its graduates remain competitive in a globalized job market.
By aligning with ICAPA, UMI ensures its degrees hold weight globally, providing graduates with careers in multinational corporations and international governance. As UMI hosts these top-tier public administration professors from the Netherlands, Sweden, and Nigeria, it reaffirms its role as a bridge between Uganda’s education system and global best practices.
