UMI Hosts Delegates from NCHE
Uganda Management Institute, led by the Director General, Prof. James L. Nkata was pleased to host a delegation from the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE), led by Prof. Ddumba Ssentamu, yesterday, 19th August 2025, at the Institute. With the aim of ensuring academic quality, relevance, and excellence in higher education, the main purpose of the visit was to carry out a programme audit of the academic programmes,academic staff and infrastructural facilities within the Institute.
Giving his welcoming remarks, Prof. James.L.Nkata appreciated the Council for its continued engagement, as this was the second visit following an earlier meeting during which UMI was ISO recertified, reflecting the Institute’s unwavering commitment to quality and standards.
“We are here to understand the enrolment programmes, review tracer studies, interact with academic and administrative staff, identify challenges, and find practical solutions to improve the Institute,” said Prof. Ddumba Ssentamu, who led the NCHE delegation to UMI.
The Institute’s Deans presented their schools’ programmes, highlighting course modules, learning outcomes, and the competency-based approach, giving the delegation a clear understanding of UMI’s academic offerings, teaching methods, and quality assurance systems. Proper infrastructure plays a critical role in supporting effective teaching, learning, and research. An infrastructural assessment was conducted, evaluating classrooms, libraries, and computer laboratories to ensure they meet the standards required for quality education.
