UMI Trains Senior Police Officers
Uganda management Institute has graduated the third cohort of the Uganda Police Institutional leadership and management course. Hon Kahinda Otafiire- Minister of Internal affairs presided over the function that had 34 DPC graduate after a year of training at the Police Senior staff College Bwebajja.
Hon Otafiire thanked the training partners and asked for more Institutional Involvements in Police training. The Minister reiterates his commitments to see Police improve in training and welfare at all levels. The Minister asked the Police leadership to put a lot of attention on training the low cadres in the Police and ensure that they are promoted. “I will not sign or forward any senior officers for promotion before I see promotions for the Junior Policemen “.
The Minister also urged the Police training College to engage Institutions like UMI to improve their Research Skills for the betterment of the Force. The Minister emphasized that there need to be training in full proof report writing to ensure that cases processed by Police are not in any way lacking.
The Director General UMI encouraged the graduates to continue the Journey of self-improvement. This was the third cohort trained by UMI on Institutional Leadership and Management. The first Cohort had Directors and Deputy Directors in the force and the second had Regional Police Commanders, The third had 34 District Police Commanders.
