
General Objective
To nurture management ideas into innovative management solutions for private and public sector organisations. By this, MBIC will only focus on management ideas rather than the initiators or promoters of the ideas.
Specific Objectives
The specific objectives of MBIC will include all activities that will contribute to the achievements of MBIC vision among which include the following:
- To nurture management ideas and transform them into viable management solutions to challenges facing the Private and Public Sector Organisations
- To develop capacity of UMI Consultants and Incubatees to establish and manage service based incubation centers
- To promote the adoption of Management Best Practices (MBP) by both Private and Public Sector Organisations
- To provide a source of revenue for UMI in order to support infrastructural and human research development
- To enhance the wealth and jobs of incubatee firms / company
- To bid for projects on incubation and consultancy
- To provide apprenticeship training for the graduate students
Guiding Principles
The Institute Research & Innovation Center general principles shall apply in the MBIC and these include:
- Relevancy to society:The MBIC will undertake to nurture innovative ideas/knowledge to contribute to solutions that will help improve performance. To ensure this, the MBIC will carefully select innovative ideas that are viable to providing solutions when nurtured
- Quality: Just like UMI recognizes the need for quality research evidences, the MBIC will promote these principles by promoting innovative and quality ideas generated by incubatees
- Professionalism: Innovation just like research demands a high level of ethical conduct and in this regard the MBIC will adhere to the standard operation procedures, policies and guidelines in force. The MBIC will strive to build capacity of her staff and incubates.
- Teamwork and collaborative Innovation: UMI will put in place guidelines to enhance collaborative innovation, joint innovation ideas projects with other incubation centres and research Institutions. Staffs, students and individuals will be supported to undertake collaborative and joint innovative projects.
- Innovativeness and adaptability: The extent to which innovation can be useful depends on tailored and specific contexts. The Institute will put in place guidelines to enable her staffs incubate their ideas.
