1. Relevancy to society:The MBIC will undertake to nurture innovative ideas/knowledge to contribute to solutions that will help improve performance. To ensure this, the MBIC will carefully select innovative ideas that are viable to providing solutions when nurtured
2. Quality: Just like UMI recognizes the need for quality research evidences, the MBIC will promote these principles by promoting innovative and quality ideas generated by incubatees
3. Professionalism: Innovation just like research demands a high level of ethical conduct and in this regard the MBIC will adhere to the standard operation procedures, policies and guidelines in force. The MBIC will strive to build capacity of her staff and incubates.
4. Teamwork and collaborative Innovation: UMI will put in place guidelines to enhance collaborative innovation, joint innovation ideas projects with other incubation centres and research Institutions. Staffs, students and individuals will be supported to undertake collaborative and joint innovative projects.
5. Innovativeness and adaptability: The extent to which innovation can be useful depends on tailored and specific contexts. The Institute will put in place guidelines to enable her staffs incubate their ideas.

2. Use of copier, fax and postal meter (usage charges only)

4. Shared conference rooms and small kitchen/break area
5. Media and Public Relations

The MBIC will source for organizations in the public sector and private sector to be used as case studies to test the proposed solutions. These case studies will provide an opportunity for establishing the viability and effectiveness of the solutions that will have been developed at the MBIC.

There will be an intensive interaction between the MBIC and the case study organisations in the initial six (6) months to ensure that the solutions are adopted by the case study organisations. Thereafter these case study organisations will be monitored for at least two years to establish the impact of the solutions on the performance of these organisations.

This extended period of monitoring is aimed at establishing the sustainability of the innovative solutions. To ensure a sufficient number of organisations sign up to be used as case studies, the MBIC will in the first three years of interaction with the case study organisations provide free technical support in the implementation of the innovative solutions. Thereafter these organisations will have to pay for any service related to the solution

The MBIC will organise roundtables and Peer to Peer events to facilitate peer to peer networking among the initiators/promoters. These events will first of all provide a platform for building strong networks among the MBIC participants. Secondly these events will also provide a forum for the initiators/ promoters to share problems and successes of their projects with their peers.
