Ex-South African President Mbeki Participates in UMI's 2nd International Conference
Former South African President, the highly Intellectual Thambo Mbeki on Monday evening jetted into the country to participate in the 2nd International Conference organized by Uganda Management Institute (UMI) as part of the activities to mark 50 years of its existence.
This International Conference on Service Delivery in Developing Economies is being held at Hotel Africana’s Nile Hall where more than 300 International Delegates are expected from 60 countries. Themed "Accountability, Innovation and Quality Public Service Delivery," the event (opening Tuesday morning) will have President Museveni speak besides Mbeki who will be the key note speaker. Peter Kibazo, the Manager Communications for UMI, says the Conference will run up to Thursday afternoon when it will climax into a grand closing ceremony.
At Entebbe airport, Mbeki was received by a high-powered Ugandan delegation that was headed by Education Minister (Higher) Dr. JC Muyingo who was flanked by UMI officials namely Governing Council Chairman FX Lubanga and Director General Dr. James Nkata among others. The former SA President was after landing at Entebbe led by SA Ambassador Prof Solly Mollo to Kampala Sheraton Hotel where he spent the night.
