Linux Systems Administration And Networking

RATIONALE:
Today more than 97% of the world’s supercomputers, more than 80% of all smartphones, many millions of desktop
computers, around 70% of all web servers, a large chunk of tablet computers, and several appliances (dvdplayers,
washing machines, dsl modems, routers, self-driving cars, space station laptops...) run Linux. Linux is by far the
most commonly used operating system in the world. This course therefore aims at imparting skills on how to install,
configure and administer Linux operating system. Ubuntu and CentOS distributions will be used for demonstration.

TARGET GROUP:
Fresh IT graduates, Novice Linux users, Systems administrators with no experience in using Linux and all people who
are interested in working in a linux environment.
Prerequisite: Applicants must have basic working knowledge of microcomputers and operating systems

OBJECTIVES:
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
Install Linux operating system and virtual machine
Configure network services (TCP/IP)
Install Applications
Add /delete users and Groups
Assign permissions to user groups
Manage files and directories
Implement security measures

Creating a virtual box/ machine
Installing a Linux operating system and configuring peripherals
Introduction to Linux basic commands
Basic Linux tasks
Performing and modifying startup and shutdown processes
Linux network Configuration
Creating and managing Users and groups in Linux
Assigning permissions in Linux
Performing maintenance on file systems
Managing running processes
Performing backups and restoration of files
Troubleshooting system problems
Configuring networked file systems
Deploying a working Web server configuration
Configuring DHCP and DNS services
Implementing security measures
