Modern Computer Applications


Modern Computer Applications is a course designed to teach participants how to use the computer as a business and
personal tool through the use of applications software. Appropriate software for word processing, Presentations and
spread sheets will be used. The course aims at developing knowledge and skills in computer use especially document
processing, presentation and spread sheet management.


Persons who have no formal training in basic computer applications or persons with inadequate exposure to common
office applications


By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
Identify the different parts of a computer system
Create save, format, retrieve, and print documents and graphics using MS-Word
Enter, save, load, format, and print documents and graphs – improve math skills using MS-Excel
Create presentations using masters, graphics, sound/music clips and graphs using MS-PPT


Fundamentals of IT/IS Concepts
Introduction to the Basics of IT/IS
Computer Peripherals: I/O and Storage Devices
Introduction to the hardware use in IS
Application Software
Software needed and used by the end users
System Software
The Software needed for the Management of Systems
Introduction to Word Processing using Microsoft Word
Introduction to Spread sheets using Microsoft Excel
Introduction to Presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint
