Introduction
Uganda Management Institute (UMI) is a Management Development Institution with a mission “to excel in developing sustainable management capacity”.  It provides management training, consultancy and research services in response to the demands of the public, private, and NGO sectors.  In addition to short performance improvement management skills development courses, the Institute offers high quality career development management courses at Certificate, Diploma, Postgraduate Diploma and Postgraduate Degree Levels.

The Institute’s activities are currently carried out at the main campus in Kampala and its Outreach Centers in Mbarara and Gulu. UMI has established another Centre in Mbale to cater for the eastern region and will be operational beginning with the academic year 2010/2011.

This is to invite applications for the courses mentioned below to be conducted at the Mbale Outreach Centre for the 2010/2011 academic year.  The courses will be week-end programmes running from 8:30am to 4:30pm Saturdays and Sundays:

(i)  Postgraduate Diploma in Public Administration and Management
(ii)  Postgraduate Diploma in Project Planning and Management
(iii) Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Management

Target Group
The courses are run in two semesters,  and they are designed to improve technical and   professional knowledge and skills in management for middle level managers in Government Ministries and Departments, Local Governments, Parastatal Bodies and NGO’s. Participants who complete the Postgraduate Diploma courses with at least a second class can proceed to do research for the Masters Degree. In effect the Postgraduate Diploma constitutes the first year of the Masters Degree programme.

Admission Requirements:
Candidates must be holders of a good University degree OR a recognised relevant professional qualification with a minimum of 1 year working experience
