Rationale :
This course provides an excellent introduction to the IT industry and interactive exposure to personal computers,
hardware, and operating systems. Students participate in hands-on activities and lab-based learning to become
familiar with various hardware and software components and discover best practices in maintenance and safety.

TARGET GROUP:
Persons who want to work as computer support professionals and technicians in a variety of work environments
and industries.

OBJECTIVES:
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
Describe the internal components of a computer
Assemble a computer system, install an operating system
Troubleshoot using system tools and diagnostic software
Troubleshoot laptops and other peripheral devices like printers and scanners
Set up a simple Local Area Networ
Discuss computer security challenges.

CONTENT:
Introduction to the personal computer
Safe lab procedures and tool use
Computer assembly step by step
Installation of software (operating systems software, applications software and utility software)
Basics of preventive maintenance and trouble shooting
Set up a simple Local Area Network
Computer Security breaches

Demonstrations, discussions, practical exercises, role plays, presentations.
